Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams of usually eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s net, primarily using feet, although players can also use other parts of their body, except for their arms and hands. The sport is widely recognized under various names and formats; for example, “soccer” in most countries outside of the United States and Canada, and “American football” in the US and Canada, which is a distinct variation of the original game. Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end. Matches are typically played in two halves, and the team with the most goals at the end of the match wins. Football is known for its global reach and immense popularity, being played and followed by millions around the world. Major international tournaments, such as the FIFA World Cup, further underline its significance as a cultural and sporting phenomenon.
